2)    Talk to your colleagues
If your school is subscribed to Spellzone, it’s a great idea to get as many of your colleagues involved as possible. We offer site licenses covering up to 1200 learners and the more students you sign up, the cheaper the course is per head. Learn more about developing a whole-school spelling policy here

3)    Sign up for a free online demo
Once you’ve got your colleagues on board, why not organise a free online demo for you all? This online training session lasts about 20 minutes and one of our team will take you through the essentials of the site and answer any questions you might have. Book your slot here

4)    Adapt Spellzone to suit your needs
Spellzone is fully accessible. Make sure you adapt the site to suit your needs by clicking ‘Accessibility’ on the top right corner of the screen. You will be able to change the text size, style, and colour; the background colour; the line spacing; and have the page read out to you. Learn more about using our accessibility feature here

You can also translate every word list into 92 languages!

5)    Create student profiles
The next step is to create profiles for your students. You can add up to 500 students at a time in just a few simple steps by following the guidelines here. You can also create staff profiles and classes

6)    Assign the Spelling Ability Test
Spellzone allows students to work at their own pace and gives you the opportunity to set different students different tasks depending on their skill level. The quickest and easiest way to find out a student’s base spelling level is via the Spelling Ability Test. Learn more here.

7)    Take advantage of personal Course Pathways
Upon completing the Spelling Ability Test, each student will be assigned a unique Course Pathway based on their current strengths and weaknesses. This means that students can continue building their spelling skills in their own time. Learn more here

8)    Make your own word lists
The Spellzone word list feature is a great way to adapt Spellzone to suit your needs.
While we already have a huge collection of existing word lists – in a wide array of subjects – the best way to make sure you’re practising the vocabulary most relevant to your subject or field is to create your own lists. Find out how here

9)    Monitor progress
Different students learn at different paces and Spellzone makes monitoring individual progress very easy. Click here to learn how to view a student’s activity and results. We also have printable stickers for rewarding progress.

10)    Have fun
Spellzone has a wealth of resources from a dictionary, to worksheets, to word games. Encourage students to explore the website and have fun!

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
