If a word ending in -fer is stressed, e.g. deFER, transFER etc. then when adding a suffix that starts with a vowel (i.e. -ing, -ed, -al) you must double the final 'r'. If the 'fer' sound is unstressed e.g. in offer or preference, then you do NOT double the final 'r'.

	inferred	If something is inferred, it means it is deduced or reasoned using logic.
