In this word list, we will explore longer words that contain the double
ff spelling. The same rules that apply to shorter words also extend to these longer examples.
When a word has the f sound following a short vowel, you should double the f. However, if the f sound is followed by a consonant, it should not be doubled.
For instance, in coffee, the f follows the short /o/ sound, so is doubled.
