How Many Points Have Your Students Collected?

What are Spellzone points?

While working on Spellzone, students collect effort points and achievement points. These rewards are displayed as medals and medallions.

Effort Points

Effort points represent effort made and one point is awarded for every learning activity the student attempts.

Learning activities include: course pages; the Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check activity; pattern-recognition games; and problem-solving games. These activities are found throughout the course and in the Word Lists section.

Students are also rewarded a certificate upon completing a course unit.

Achievement Points

Achievement points represent student achievement and up to five points are awarded for each test activity completed.

Test activities include: course tests, the Listen and Spell test, and voice and vocabulary games. These activities are found throughout the course and in the Word Lists section.

The number of awarded points depends on the score achieved:

  • 100% = 5 points
  • 90% - 99% = 4 points
  • 60% - 89% = 2 points
  • 1% - 59% = 1 point
  • 0% = 0 points

If a student improves their score on a test activity, their new score will replace their original one.

What do the points count towards?

Student Titles

Student titles are awarded based on achievement points. Each student begins as a Newbie and works their way up to a Grandmaster.

League Tables

Effort and achievement points count towards the Spellzone League Tables. There are three tables which are updated weekly: Schools, Classes, and Students

The more points a student collects, the higher they will rank.

How can I see how many points my students have collected?

For an at-a-glance view of each student in the school’s points, click on the blue Students tab. Each student’s score will be displayed in the points column. Hover over or click on the number of points for more information.

You can also click on a student’s name and then the green Rewards tab to find a breakdown of their points.

Students can keep track of their own points on their My Spellzone page. They can click on the red My Rewards tab for more information.

Navigating the World of Hyphenated Words in English

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
