With the new school year fast approaching, it’s time to make sure your Spellzone account is ready for your students and staff to start work.

Students

At the start of the year, it is likely that you will have students who no longer need to use Spellzone.

To delete a whole class of students from your school’s account:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the blue ‘Classes’ tab
  • Click on the class of students you would like to delete
  • Click on the ‘Select all’ button at the end of the top row on the student roll table
  • Scroll to the bottom of the student roll
  • Click on ‘Delete
  • Confirm that you have chosen the correct student/s
  • Click on ‘Yes, permanently delete
  • The student/s and all their records will be removed from Spellzone - if you accidentally delete a student, please contact us within 30 days as we may be able to restore their account

To delete a single student from your school’s account:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the blue ‘Students’ tab or the blue 'Classes' tab
  • Find the student you would like to delete
  • Tick the box at the end of the row (there is a ‘Select all’ option at top of the student roll if you would like to delete all students)
  • Scroll to the bottom of the student roll
  • Click on ‘Delete
  • Confirm that you have chosen the correct student/s
  • Click on ‘Yes, permanently delete
  • The student and all their records will be removed from Spellzone - if you accidentally delete a student, please contact us within 30 days as we may be able to restore their account

Once you have removed any students who are no longer using Spellzone, their slots will become available for any new students you may wish to add.

Classes

It’s time to move everyone up a school year. This can be done quickly if your classes have a numerical reference in their name or have been assigned a year. To do this:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the blue ‘Classes’ tab
  • In the ‘Move classes up’ box, click on ‘Move Year
  • Check the classes have been moved up as you expected and then click on ‘Keep Changes

If there are any classes you no longer need:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the blue ‘Classes’ tab
  • Find the class you would like to delete
  • Click on the bin icon at the end of the row
  • Confirm you have chosen the correct class and click on 'Delete Class'

Students in a deleted class will remain on the student roll. Learn how to create new classes and how to sort new or existing students into classes.

Staff

At the start of the year, you may wish to add new members of staff to your Spellzone account and remove any teachers who have left the school.

To delete a member of staff from your school’s account:

  • Log into Spellzone
  • Click on the blue ‘Staff' tab
  • Find the member/s of staff you would like to delete
  • Tick the box at the end of the row/s (there is a ‘Select all’ option at top of the staff roll if you would like to delete all members of staff)
  • Scroll to the bottom of the staff roll
  • Click on ‘Delete
  • Confirm that you have chosen the correct member/s of staff
  • Click on ‘Yes, permanently delete
  • The member/s of staff and all their records will be removed from Spellzone - if you accidentally delete a member of staff, please contact us within 30 days as we may be able to restore their account

You can also convert any member of staff’s account into an administrator account by selecting them from the staff roll and clicking on the ‘Convert to Administrator’ button

Don’t forget the start of the year is the perfect time to reset the Spelling Ability Test.

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
