Practice spelling with printable activities: Double letters before le -short vowel sound.
Remember to count back 3 and split words ending with le. You need a double consonant before the le if the vowel is short (to make a closed syllable, eg. rab/ bit with a short a sound (vowel is closed in at end of syllable) and NOT spelt ra/bit (syllable ends with vowel so will make its long sound).
