Reinforce your spelling skills with printable worksheets for: al as a suffix (copy).
If you add suffix to the end of a base word, it creates a new word with a modified meaning.
The words in this list include the suffix -al, which comes from Latin and is commonly used to form adjectives that describe characteristics, qualities, actions, or processes associated with a particular noun.
As -al is a vowel suffix, any vowel at the end of a root word is removed before the suffix is added. For example: arrive - e = arriv-, arriv- + -al = arrival.
If the root word doesn't end in a vowel, no change needs to be made before the suffix is added. For example: intention + -al = intentional.
