alliteration Alliteration involves words that begin with the same sound. *
simile Simile involves describing something by comparing it with something else. *
metaphor A metaphor is an image containing a strong comparison. For example, the moon is a piece of cheese. *
assonance Assonance involves words that have the same vowel sound. *
stanza A stanza is a verse of a poem. *
rhyme Time, crime and chime all rhyme.
rhythm James plays rhythm guitar.
repetition When words or phrases are repeated for effect we call it repetition. *
