To do column subtraction, we line up the decimal points, on top of each other.

A decimal number is a number with a decimal point in it, like 1.5.

The bottom of a fraction is called the denominator.

divide |
The family wanted to divide the money equally.

The whole numbers including zero and negatives are called integers.

Twenty four is a multiple of six. Other multiples of six include twelve, eighteen and sixty.

Top heavy fractions have a numerator bigger than the denominator and can be written as mixed numbers.

Positive numbers are the natural counting numbers and do not include zero.

We use ratio to compare two or more things with each other, including money, often shared unfairly.

The reciprocal of two is a half, because two times a half is one.
