Mnemonics

Commonly Confused Words
These articles focus on pairs or groups of words that people often mix up. In each post we look what each of the words means and share tips on how to avoid confusing them.
Apostrophes
Don’t get caught in an apostrophe catastrophe! This little punctuation mark is so often misused that examiners will almost definitely be keeping an eye out for mistakes. In these articles, we cover when you should use apostrophes, and – perhaps more importantly – when you shouldn’t use them.
Easy Mistakes
These articles are about common spelling and grammar mistakes to avoid. Make sure you know the difference between ‘infer’ and ‘imply’, ‘e.g.’ and ‘i.e.’, and ‘who’ and ‘whom’.
Word Lists
The Spellzone course includes a vast collection of word lists, which include subject specific vocabulary. Click on the eye icon at the top of each list to take a ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check’ test; the ear icon to take a ‘Listen and Spell’ test; and the football icon to play games using the words.
