In fact, there are hundreds of words in our language beginning with ‘x’ just waiting to be unearthed and introduced into your vocabulary!

We’ll start off by looking at three of the more commonly used ‘x-words’ as you may find them useful in everyday life.

Xenophobia
The intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries.’ Its antonym is also used although, sadly, less frequently: ‘xenophilia’ is the affection one might have for unknown people or objects.

Xylology
The prefix ‘Xylo’ is used for words pertaining to wood. ‘Xylology’ is the study of wood.

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
