Many words spell the long /a/ sound with the letters a-e. Here are a few of the longer words.

amaze You never fail to amaze me!
debate The president took part in a TV debate.
escape He tried to escape from the cell.
inflate How quickly can you inflate all the balloons?
translate Can you translate from French?
migrate Some birds migrate at the same time each year.
vibrate The heavy truck made the bridge vibrate.
behave My dog is being trained to behave well.
inhale Inhale means to breathe in.
exhale Exhale means to breathe out.
aeroplane British English spelling The Wright brothers flew the first aeroplane.
calculate Calculate the cost of all the food.
emigrate Tom plans to emigrate to Mexico when he retires.
estimate I estimate we'll land in forty minutes.
hesitate If you need me don't hesitate to call.
