Spelling list: Prefixes: ante or anti?

These prefixes are often confused. Think about meanings: ante means before; anti means opposite .

anticlockwise Run around the track in an anticlockwise direction.
anticlimax I thought the end of the film was an anticlimax.
antiseptic Mum put some antiseptic on his cut knee.
antidote On the jungle trek they took an antidote to snake bites.
antisocial Behaving rudely in public is antisocial.
antifreeze Use antifreeze to protect the car's engine.
antenatal Before the baby was born we went to antenatal classes.
antecedent An antecedent is something that happened before.
anteroom An anteroom leads to a larger, more important room.
