Spelling list: ey and ei words

A few words use ey or ei to spell the long /a/ sound.

translate:
prey The eagle preys on small animals.
they They serve the best steak in town.
obey He promised to obey the Scout laws.
convey He had to convey his sadness.
survey Would you like to complete a quick survey?
reins Hold tight on to the reins.
vein A vein carries blood to the heart.
veil The bride wore a long white veil.
reign The country prospered under the King's reign.
neigh I heard the horse neigh from the stable.
weigh How much do you weigh?
sleigh The sleigh was pulled by reindeer.
eight Half of sixteen is eight.
freight The freight was loaded onto the ship.
weight To win the cake you must guess its weight.
neighbor American English spelling My neighbor makes too much noise.
