Contractions are shortcuts that allow us to merge words together to convey meaning more efficiently. They usually involve omitting letters or syllables and replacing them with an apostrophe. For instance, do not becomes don't, they are becomes they're, and cannot becomes can't. The apostrophe takes the place of the omitted letters, indicating where the words have been combined.
These condensed forms not only simplify language but also add a touch of informality and fluidity to our conversations. However, mastering the correct spelling of contractions can sometimes be a bit challenging.
