Test yourself using the Listen and Spell test.
Some words in English spell the long /e/ sound by adding the letter e to the end of the word. This creates the pattern found in words like theme, scene, and evening. The e-e combination makes the vowel sound long, similar to the ee in see.
Here are two examples:
Theme – The family went to the theme park.
Scene – The picture showed a peaceful country scene.
Recognising this e-e pattern will help with spelling other words that contain this sound.
