ough is one of the trickiest spellings in English it can be used to spell a number of different sounds.

 ought You really ought to see that film.
bought I bought this dress at the new boutique.
thought I thought you'd be ready by now.
nought Nought means nothing. (US spelling: naught).
brought The maid brought the tea on a tray.
fought The swordsmen fought a duel.
rough The path was rough and rocky.
tough This meat is far too tough to eat.
enough A dozen eggs will be enough.
cough David has a bad cold and a cough.
though Even though it's winter the weather is not cold.
although Although I'm sick I'll still go to work.
dough Knead the dough to make the pizza.
through He kicked the ball through the window.
thorough This room needs a thorough clean.
borough The borough council studied the idea very thoroughly.
