Spelling list: Words ending in stle

The /s l/ sound at the end of a word is usually spelled stle. The letter t is silent.

castle	The castle was under siege.
nestle	I nestle my head against my pillow.
bristle	The broom had one broken bristle.
thistle	Thistle flowers are beautiful.
gristle	The joint of meat had lots of gristle.
whistle	The referee blew his whistle at the end of the game.
jostle	People jostle against me as I walk through the crowd.
bustle	I could barely move for the bustle of the street.
