Thank You!

Last November, with four years of blogging under our belt, we decided to enter the UK Blog Awards and asked you all to spend a second or two voting for us. We spread the word on Facebook and Twitter, as well as over here on the blog, and you really came through for us. In December, we received an email telling us that we’d been selected as one of the ten blogs on the education company shortlist. Thank you!

The award ceremony took place last Friday. We dressed up in our fanciest clothes and headed to the Montcalm Hotel in London to await our fate. The event was Alice and Wonderland themed, and upon arrival we were led down the rabbit hole and into a Wonderland-ballroom with teapots, playing cards, and even a rather menacing Cheshire Cat!

We’re big Alice in Wonderland fans here at Spellzone – you can read about some of the contributions Lewis Carrol made to the English language here and here.

After making some friends and having a bite to eat, we made our way to our seats where we were welcomed to the ceremony by our host Andy Samuels. Unfortunately we didn’t win, but we had a fantastic evening and are honoured to be finalists. Huge congratulations to Students 4 Best Evidence who won the company education award, and to the rest of the evening’s winners!

From all the team at Spellzone we’d like thank you, our subscribers and readers, for your continued support. Without your votes we wouldn’t have made it as far as we did, so thank you very much! We love exploring idioms, digging up etymologies, and finding tricks to help make spelling and grammar easier for everyone – so do let us know how we can help you. What parts of this blog do you enjoy the most? Are there any aspects of the English language that baffle you? Get in touch on Facebook or Twitter and we’ll include your ideas in future posts.

"Thank goodness for Spellzone during this remote learning phase. The site is easy for students to navigate independently and they're really enjoying the activities and spelling games. You get an awful lot for your money with Spellzone. Really reassuring is the very prompt response with helpdesk queries. I've very rarely needed the helpdesk, but when I have, the issue has been addressed and sorted within a very short time."
