Is Spellzone suitable for children?
Spellzone has been written with older students in mind -
teenage to adults. However, it may prove very useful to some younger
students who have no specific spelling difficulty and who enjoy
a challenge. In particular, it could be a valuable resource for
parents who are educating their children at home.
Children can use Spellzone at School, at home with supervision, by themselves or they can even use the course on a mobile phone or iPod touch. As all progress and results are stored online then it doesn't matter when and where children work on the course, you can always monitor their progress. This offers a significant advantage over CD based or installed software. It also makes our spelling course especially suitable for home schooling or educating at home as children do not necessarily need supervision while working on the course.
Much of the vocabulary used does reflect the interests of older
students and adults, for example:
(From Unit 28, The endings -tion, -sion, -cian)
| My credit card never leaves my posses___. Another word for occupation: prof_____ |
However, care has been taken not to include any material that could cause offence. You can be confident that children will not meet any content of a sexual or violent nature.
